We here at the Wendigo Ultra headquarters have established a new and very exciting route for 2020.
Though it no longer takes the racer into La Belle Province of Quebec, it does take full advantage of the Algonquin Trail (AT), also known as the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail.
The AT was established only a few years ago and spans from Smith Falls, ON to (eventually) North Bay, ON, for a total of 300km, so yes, you can at some point in the near future, expect a 300km Wendigo option!
The AT is 95% on old rail line that was recently reclaimed and refinished with a smooth crushed limestone surface and groomed by the OFSC in the winter.
IT IS A SHARED TRAIL, motors AND non-motorized traffic use this trail.
All rules of the road/trail apply to EVERYONE
This route offer a 50k, 100k or 200k ride. Each distance is point/return, meaning that you'll start and finish at the same location - The Whitewater Brewing Company's Cobden, ON brew pub!
