WENDIGO 2021 COMETH

WENDIGO 2021 COVID Challenge

tag: #wendigoultra2021

Happy New Year to the Wendigo Community! We hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy.

Much thought has gone into how we will roll-out for the 2021 event....hence such a late post... and with so many variables and unknowns from now until the 20th of February it is safe to say that our usual event format cannot be adhered to.
Safety is always paramount and this year is no exception. In an effort to minimize unnecessary interactions between you, our volunteers and local businesses, here’s the options.
The 2021 Wendigo will involve two options for you.
1. The “Ride Your Ride” option: wherever you may live, choose a distance (50k or greater), ride it unsupported, take some pictures, record the ride and post the link of your ride to our shared timing sheet (google timing sheet is found in event blog under ‘results’). Link: https://wendigoultra.blogspot.com/p/results.html?m=1
2. This option ONLY if the lock-down and group size restrictions are lifted, will be a 7am grand depart out of Cobden, ON, on the Main Street where the trail crosses.
***Please READ: the 2021 event is not an organized or managed event. It is simply a ride. There is no fee, no waiver, no volunteer support and no mandatory gear (however some gear is strongly encouraged, see blog gear list) - Ride Your Ride.

Complete Option 1 no later than by March 1st, end of day (11:59PM).
Should riders want to acquire the coveted “finishers” fridge magnet, we are happy to organize this for a small admin fee. We will post magnet order info on a shared google sheet, the same sheet that you will post your recorded ride to.
If you live in a red-zone, please avoid travel, likewise if we are in a state of orange/red-zone, please do your due diligence and ride at home.
We will do a “toast to the riders” via ZOOM, POST EVENT, date/time TBA.
Draw prizes from select brands and retailers, including
Thief Bikepacking
bags!
Where ever you end up riding, don’t forget to... #pedalpushendure
